February 6: The History of Norwich in 10 Houses

Sarah Rooker, NHS Director, takes you through Norwich’s past by exploring the stories of ten houses. A fun architectural history of Norwich touching on major moments in Norwich history.

Join NHS at 6:00 for the 2024 Annual Meeting which we will hold before this talk.

February 13: Main Street, Then and Now

Then and now photos are always so much fun.  Take a trip down Main Street and see how much has actually stayed the same. The shadows of history are still on the buildings today.

 


February 20: Rooted in Time: One Meadow’s Story, with the Warner Meadows Association

We will explore this special place in Norwich, going deep into the past and looking to the future. This program will bring together geology, history, and ecology to tell the story of one meadow in Norwich. We will also hear from the Warner Meadows Association how they are planning for the meadow’s future and why meadows are important to preserve.

February 27: A Stroll through Union Village

In 2023 Norwich Historical Society received two gifts of Union Village memorabilia, including over 100 photographs. These materials reveal a thriving village serving farmers from Thetford, Strafford, and Norwich.  In this talk we will share the story of Union Village from its beginnings as a small mill town to the hamlet it is today sitting near the Union Village dam.
